About Me
Hi everyone, my name is Jessica!
I am a recent neurology residency graduate now fellow and the first physician in my family. My path to this point has been non-traditional, and often felt longer and more arduous. Only until recently, I started sharing my journey with the IMG community through social media, and began to realize how much my story inspired others pursuing a career in medicine.
I have been fortunate enough to cross paths with influential physicians in various areas of medicine. The stories of how and when I had these opportunities sound more like being lucky - being in the right place at the right time. For instance, like that time I worked at a hair salon when a cardiology department chair was getting a hair cut.
However, it was maintaining relationships, asking for help, and hard work that allowed me to achieve my dreams of becoming a doctor and work in a field I love. Because of physicians taking interest in my success and helping me along the way, I want to do the same for others who find themselves trekking along this medical journey.

My Story
My journey has been far from the picture-perfect story that you read in magazines and college alumni newsletters. It is a story of grit, determination, failures, and successes that I hope can inspire and motivate you. You are not alone on your path to becoming a physician! I know the feeling of being rejected - I have been shut down, discouraged, and simply told to "try something else" more times than I would like to admit. Having been an average (sometimes, slightly below average) student throughout my academic journey, I worked so much harder and with an eagerness to bridge this gap.
